Job Description
Tracks all specimens as primary point-of-contact. Receives, processes, and verifies specimen. Logs specimens into the information system.
Job Responsibility
- Handles telephone information requests promptly with courtesy, accuracy, and respect for confidentiality.
- Ensures appropriate ordering and turnaround of test results by monitoring transportation, receipt, and ordering information on each specimen; logs in test orders and registers patients, when necessary.
- Coordinates pick-up and delivery of supplies and reports to/from client offices; serves as a central dispatch for the laboratory motor vehicle operators.
- Submits accurate information needed for billing by reviewing client requisitions; contracts client offices for proper insurance coding, diagnosis codes, and all other pertinent billing information.
- Troubleshoots patient and client billing ensures; makes corrections and notifies hospital billing.
- Evaluates integrity of all types of laboratory problem specimens; investigates alternate courses of action to be taken to ensure positive resolution and client satisfaction.
- Collaborates with area supervisors, when necessary.
- Reviews all outpatients list on a daily basis and takes appropriate action to ensure quality of specimen collection and reporting of results.
- Receives interface orders in the laboratory information systems; verifies collection lists; maintains proper lever of supplies at all times.

Job Qualification
- Associate’s Degree required, or equivalent combination of education and related experience.
- 3-5 years of relevant experience, required.

The salary range for this position is $39,290-$59,800/year
