Northwell Health’s Innovation Challenge inspires our team members to make Truly Innovative advances in care delivery and science
At Northwell Health, we cultivate an innovative and collaborative environment that empowers our team members to achieve breakthroughs in patient care. The bi-annual Innovation Challenge competition encourages our team members to share new ideas that can transform how health care is delivered to our patients and the communities we serve.
Since the start of the challenge in 2017, hundreds of Northwell team members have presented innovative ideas, with 15 projects to date receiving funding to help advance and develop their inventions. This year, individual team members and teams were welcomed to submit their idea to one of two categories, Innovation in Science (innovations in therapeutics, diagnostics and medical devices) and Innovation in Care Delivery (innovations to improve efficiencies, clinical care, patient experience and/or health education). Six finalist teams were chosen to present their project in person to a panel of judges.
This year’s Innovation Challenge was awarded to three winning teams, InsightXR Laparoscopy Platform (InsightXR): A new technology platform for the operating room, AI-Enabled Detection of Pediatric Sleep Apnea Based on Sound Recordings and Amplify.AI: Enhancing Radiology Accuracy and Efficiency through AI Integration. The winning teams were awarded a total of $1.3 million in funding toward research and development.
Through these initiatives, Northwell continues to shape the future of health care while inspiring teamwork and our commitment to making a difference.
