A career enriched by educational opportunities: Meet Sarinna, Registered Nurse at Northwell Health

Dommercant, one of Northwell’s dedicated and compassionate registered nurses at Lenox Hill Hospital.

Sarinna began her career journey at Northwell Health in 2016 in food and dining services as a hostess in Lenox Hill Hospital’s kitchen. In this role, she took patient’s meal orders and delivered it to their bedside. It was Sarinna’s introduction to the healthcare industry, teaching her essential communication skills and showing her the importance of every role within a hospital system. This helped her see how critical every team member is in supporting the larger mission of outstanding patient care.

Sarinna’s ambition helped her to transition into the role of a patient service facilitator in the hospital’s labor and delivery department in 2021. In this role, Sarinna supported clinical staff, coordinated patient flow and ensured that families had a positive experience. She built amazing relationships and was encouraged to pursue her dream of earning her nursing degree. “Northwell creates an environment where career advancement is both encouraged and supported, and for that, I am grateful,” said Sarinna.

Thanks to Northwell’s tuition reimbursement program, Sarinna was able to balance her career while attending a full-time nursing program to earn her Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) in 2025. Since then, Sarinna has been working in her current role as a float registered nurse at Lenox Hill Hospital. As a float RN, Sarinna gains great experience working across different hospital units, filling in where needed. Her role requires strong critical thinking, adaptability, resourcefulness and the ability to build rapport with both patients and staff quickly, which are all skills she learned during her time with Northwell and throughout her schooling.

Since joining Northwell, Sarinna has been grateful for the opportunities that she has received to advance her career. “Northwell equipped me with tools, resources and confidence to grow.” Sarinna continued, “I am thankful to my colleagues and mentors who have patiently taught me, guided me and inspired me throughout my career journey.”
