Job Description
Directs and has 24/7 responsibility for the nursing practice, patient care delivery, human and fiscal resources, and regulatory compliance of multiple departments or service lines within the hospital. Collaborates with hospital Nurse Executives to set strategic direction for key programs.
Job Responsibility
1.Directs and has 24-hour responsibility for the overall assessment, planning, implementation and evaluation of patient care of multiple departments or service lines within the hospital.
2.Collaborates with hospital Nurse Executives to develop nursing strategic plan for area of responsibility.
3.Implements policies and programs that align with strategic goals and organization mission, vision, and values.
4.Creates, communicates and builds consensus for a shared vision, through influential leadership, to effectuate organizational goals.
5.Functions as a key clinical leader and regularly collaborates with physician and operational leaders to achieve top level outcomes.
6.Upholds the delivery of high quality patient and family centered care in a healing environment.
7.Ensures a professional work environment is created and maintained that fosters team member respect, engagement, accountability and optimal patient outcomes.
8.Promotes appreciative inquiry and evidence-based, ethical and compassionate practice.
9.Oversees staffing for multiple depts or service lines. Collaborates with HR to fulfill requirements
10.Selects, develops, manages and evaluates nurse leaders. Provides direction and guidance to nurse leaders and clinical leadership.
11.Serves as a role model for standards of professional practice (clinical, educational and leadership).
12.Participates in succession planning for patient care service management and provides career development guidance.
13.Educates Nurse Managers and Clinical Leaders in new and existing department procedures and systems (information systems, fiscal responsibility, etc.).
14.Develops and oversees management of budgets. Monitors budget performance and develops and communicates action plans when variances are present.
15.Creates and monitors performance metrics that support decision-making to achieve optimal performance levels.
16.Ensures adherence to the established care delivery model, using knowledge of scope and standards of practice.
17.Participates in streamlining operations and effectively apply new concepts and techniques for positive outcomes.
18.Facilitates continual compliance for all responsible departments with the JC, CMS, New York State, DOH, Public Health Law, HIPPA regulations and System, hospital and department standards.
19.Ensures all regulations and standards are addressed and current in policies and procedures.
20.Demonstrates advanced knowledge of clinical competencies for patient population of oversight in order to direct patient care.
21.Maintains current knowledge of scope and standards of practice, healthcare legislation, and population health.
22.Identifies and leads opportunities to initiate operational change across departments/service lines using evidence-based strategies and solutions.

Job Qualification
Master’s Degree, required. (Bachelors or Master’s Degree must be in Nursing)
Current license to practice as a Registered Professional Nurse in New York State, required.
Specialized certifications, as needed.
8-12 years of nursing experience and 7+ years of leadership/management experience, required.

The salary range for this position is $140100-$245200/year
